Sea creatures are a gift for colouring. Nothing underwater has to be a realistic colour, so a child can make a whale purple or a turtle rainbow-striped and it still looks right. These pages are all free to download and print.
Good for a topic week
If a class or a nursery is doing an ocean topic, these work as a set. Print one per child per day and the wall fills up by Friday. There is no limit on copies and nothing to credit.
Easier and harder pages
The whale, the dolphin and the starfish have the boldest and simplest outlines, so younger children manage them alone. The octopus and the seahorse have far more line detail, which makes them a better fit once a child has the patience for smaller areas.
A tip for water scenes
Colour the animal first and leave the white space around it until last. Then fill the background with a single wash of blue, going right up to the outline. It makes the finished page look far more deliberate than colouring the background first.
